Course DescriptionThis class continues to develop keyboarding skills by employing more advanced levels of difficulty in the Type to Learn program. The program engages the students while providing progress monitoring to allow for individual reteaching and enrichment. Ergonomics are stressed to improve both speed and technique. Students will use Microsoft Word to prepare properly formatted memos, letters, and reports. Microsoft Publisher, desktop publishing software, will be utilized to produce a brochure. Additional cooperative learning will be incorporated as partners prepare a PowerPoint with advanced features. Both projects will focus on students’ development as a presenter.

Essential StandardsKeyboarding: Students should be able to key at a rate of 25 WPM at 95% accuracy using correct technique and posture.
Word Processing: Demonstrate the ability to create word processed documents following a prescribed format. Internet: Use the internet to locate reliable websites to answer research questions. Desktop Publishing: Create an organized Publisher brochure including graphics, various font styles, etc. Presentation Software: *Create a coherent PowerPoint presentation consisting of multiple slides, images, and animations. *Be able to present information to the class with appropriate voice level and knowledge of content using multi-media. |
